They took a huge problem for us and made it simple.

Following some major changes in personnel at the branch, we found ourselves in need of support with our finances. We had spent six months without a treasurer and the person that had previously done the wages for the three paid staff we have, was no longer a volunteer.

One of our volunteers recommended the Payroll Service at Hull CVS. I took along a bundle of papers relating to PAYE, the Inland Revenue, etc, and handed them over. We discovered that things were not in order and the referred us to their new Community Accountancy Team (part of Humberside Community Accountancy Service) to get things up to date.

After several meetings between myself, our new treasurer and their Lead Accountant and the Payroll Worker at CVS - things got sorted!

We are now up to date with the Inland Revenue, all our staff have regular payslips, our tax returns are done for us, and our accounts have been examined and are in good order. They have also helped us set up new systems to monitor our budget and ensure that things stay in good order.

Everyone involved was polite, helpful and went out of their way to get things right for us. At no point did anyone criticise us or make us feel inadequate. They took a huge problem for us and made it simple.
