Sova are looking to recruit and train volunteer mentors in Hull to support adult male offenders (service users) with the aim to help integrate them back into the local community.
The project works to address multiple barriers faced by this disadvantaged group. We offer community and through the gate mentoring which signposts and supports service users to gain access to services with the help of their volunteer.
As a volunteer you will meet with your service user on a one to one basis providing practical support this can include: Accessing local services, increasing skills and confidence, providing encouragement, support with completing forms and documents and attending appointments.
Sova is a charity that works in the heart of communities in England and Wales to help people steer clear of crime. We do this by making sure that when people find themselves in difficult situations they have someone on their side to help them make better choices so they can stay out of trouble and build better lives – See more at: http://www.sova.org.uk
What are they looking for?
We are seeking open minded male and female volunteers who can assist service users and tailor the support to meet their individual needs and are able to offer a commitment of between 1 to 4 hours per week.
We are recruiting volunteers over the age of 18 who have a genuine interest in supporting this client group, no experience is required as full training and support is provided. If you are interested in volunteering we would like to hear from you as our recruitment process is on-going.
Come along and talk to Natasha from Sova and find out more.
