The engineering industry is growing rapidly with an estimated 2 million new engineering jobs being created by 2022.
In 2011 there were only 430 female engineering apprentices compared to 13,900 males – that’s 3%. By 2012 half the total number of apprentices were female but women were still significantly under-represented in STEM and higher paying sectors such as engineering (4%).
We would like to invite careers advisors, teachers and school groups to our WiME (Women into Manufacturing and Engineering) event focusing on your role and how you can encourage more women to pursue STEM careers.
