Garth Goldfinch, 28, now wants to help in Hull through SWITCH.

An ex-homeless man who even slept on a motorway has turned his life around and is now helping others in the same situation.

Garth Goldfinch, now 28, became homeless 11 years ago after the break down of a relationship – an ordeal that saw him walk 34 miles and sleep on a motorway in a bid to make it to nearby family in Beverley.

Mr Goldfinch came through the tough period, which also meant he had to sleep in hostels and sofa surf in an attempt to keep off the streets.

Garth Goldfinch hopes it will become a one-stop shop for support for people living on the streets.

Now, he wants to help those in similar situations to the one he faced and on Wednesday morning ran his first event, bringing together charities and community organisations.
