Hello, I’m Natalie, your local Community Fundraiser for Marie Curie in Hull and East Yorkshire and I wanted to let you know how you can get involved in Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal this year.
The Great Daffodil Appeal is our biggest yearly campaign that raised over £8m across the UK last year funding vital services to enable us to care for and support people and families living with a terminal illness.
We are looking for people to get involved in a number of ways this year:
- Donating your time to collect at a supermarket near you – whether you want to help out as an individual, get your family and friends involved or sign up as a corporate team we need your help. You can book your slot online now at mariecurie.org.uk/daffodil. For workplaces, this is a great way to engage your staff in an in-house challenge to see who can raise the most in two hours. If you offer your staff volunteering time please contact me to find out more about how you can get involved.
- Organising a fundraising activity – We have a great free fundraising pack that has loads of ideas on how you can engage staff and customers such as: How many daffs in the jar raffle, wear yellow day, Feel good do good (this could include inviting a yoga teacher into work to help staff relax and un-wind at lunchtime),a bake off challenge, get quizzical on a Friday and many, many more. You can register for your pack and find more ideas at mariecurie.org.uk/daffodil/fundraising.
- Donate and wear a daffodil – We are encouraging everyone to get their daffodil this March by donating so look out for collectors and daffodil boxes on store counters to get yours and wear it with everyone else on Friday 31st
- Become a Collection Box Coordinator – We are looking for people to look after collection tins and daffodil boxes in HU7/HU8/HU9 this year. We have no-one in these areas doing this role which means that nowhere locally will get a daffodil box and be able to support Marie Curie. If you can help please do contact me. The role will involve placing the boxes and collecting, counting and banking the money. It’s a year round flexible role that fits in nicely with personal/work commitments.
The success of our Great Daffodil Appeal depends on having enough volunteers to donate their time and money to make sure that everyone gets the chance to wear their daffodil this March. If you think you can help please visit the links above or contact me on 01904 755260/07771963631 or firstname.lastname@example.org.”
