Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is proudly supporting National No Smoking Day on 13 March, where everyone comes together to inspire, motivate and support others to take the first step towards stopping smoking.

This year the Trust are promoting their Stop Smoking Service which is celebrating their success in helping people become smokefree.The East Riding Healthtrainers have recently revealed smoking prevalence in the East Riding is one of the best in the region having already exceeded the governments ambition to reduce the number of smokers down to 12% by 2022 by achieving 10.8% prevalence.

Natalie Belt, Service Manager said:

There has been fantastic results with over 9,000 residents of the East Riding having stubbed out the habit since 2015, but we know there’s still more we can do to make this even better and ensure everyone is given the opportunity to stop.

The East Riding Stop Smoking Service offers one to one support, motivation and guidance to enable smokers to make healthier choices and become smoke free. With a large number of clinics running across the East Riding and operating on evenings and weekends, it offers everyone time to access the service in addition to telephone support when needed.

Kayleigh Barrington, Healthtrainers Project Manager said:

We know many people really want to stop smoking, but find it tough. We want them to know about their local Stop Smoking Service based within the East Riding that is here to help. By accessing support you are four times more likely to successfully stop smoking meaning improvements can be made to you and your families long term health.

The bespoke service is led by smoking practitioners with clients seen on a one to one basis providing a person centred approach to help kick the habit for good.

By accessing support through the service, smokers receive eight weeks of free motivational support along with Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help ease those cravings and succeed on a journey to becoming smokefree.
