We didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits when we held our annual Volunteering Fayre, which took place in Hull City Centre on Wednesday 4th June.
Despite the miserable weather 40 organisations (out of 46 who made bookings) joined Volunteer Centre Hull on the day – a great turn out. We all had plenty of visitors to our stalls, there were smiles all round and plenty of good humour. “We don’t mind a drop of rain, do we?” was the general consensus of the day. This event took place during the 30th Anniversary of Volunteers week, so we were really pleased that The Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Nadine Fudge, and The Lady Mayoress, Leanne Fudge came to visit and spent time chatting to every stallholder. Thanks to Hull City Council for letting us have the space and to HullBID for letting us have the gazebos & tables. A big thumbs up must also go to McCoys Coffee Shop for offering all our stallholders a generous discount on the day and supporting the event. Huge thanks to all staff and volunteers from Volunteer Centre Hull, and the following organisations for attending:
Dove House Hospice, Disability Rights Advisory Service, Children & Family Action, Journey to Recovery, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Child Dynamix, Carers Information & Support Service, Hull CVS – Young Adult Carers, Hull CVS – National Citizen Service (NCS), Homestart, Humberside Police, Pre-School Learning Alliance, Humbercare, Yorkshire & Humberside Circles of Support & Accountability, Special Stars, TCV – The Conservation Volunteers, Viking FM ‘Cash for Kids’, Burton Constable Foundation, Goodwin Breastfeeding Peer Support & Doulas, Goodwin Development Trust, Citizens Advice Bureau, Quids In, Hull Samaritans, OCD Support, SOVA, Hull Optimists, Back Care, Hull Friends of the Earth, Green Prosperity, Pickering & Newington Development Association, RNLI, Catch 22, Help for Heroes, British Red Cross, Age UK, Barnardos, Barnardos retail – Whitefriargate, NHS – Primary Psychological & Well-Being Services, Neighbourhood Network, Hull City Council – City of Culture.
