Special Stars Foundation are hosting Makaton Level 1 and 2 Course to provide a practical introduction to the Makaton Language Programme.
Sessions include discussing commonly asked questions, hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use and how to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work. Delegates will also learn the signs and symbols for Stages 1-4 with the addition of the core vocabulary
Level 1 and 2 is made up of 4 modules delivered over 2 days on Tuesday 13th and 20th September 2022 The courses start at 9:30am and finish at 15:30pm from Special Stars Foundation, Unit F23, Princes Quay, Hull, HU1 2PQ.
As part of course learners will receive two workshop manuals, which include the signs and symbols that you have learned. You will also be given a certificate of attendance.
This is a fully accredited course, delivered by a tutor from the Makaton Charity.
There are 12 places available on each course, which are aimed at parents of children or young people who have significant speech and communication difficulties and teaching assistants/ care workers/ people who are doing the course for professional development within the disability sector.
Cost of the course:
£30 Parent carers of people who are non-verbal or have severe problems with communication.
£60 Professional Rate for teaching assistants/ care workers/ people who are doing the course for professional development within the disability sector.
