Launched on 15th January 2024, Talking Tables are an invitation for people to come together, share in meaningful and vibrant conversation, build lasting relationships and help to create a stronger, more connected Hull.

How Talking Tables Works

Charities and businesses across Hull have agreed to host one or more Taking Table at their venues at set times each week (normally mornings or afternoon)

The tables are available for anyone to join, and engage others in conversation.

Where possible these tables will be supported by a Talking Table Volunteer to welcome people to the table and support a good chat between patrons. But each venue has been given guidance to support people in feeling comfortable and safe.

Each table will be at venues where people can buy a drink, a bite to eat* and relax.

* Some venues will have limited food available.

The Tables will be clearly marked up as a Talking Table and have a small selection of games available to play or conversation starters for those who aren’t quite sure what to discuss. Participating venues will also have Talking Tables window stickers.
