Have your community voices heard Groups and venues needed for Brexit documentary

Community documentary makers are looking to engage with a range of community members from across the Yorkshire region to find out what leaving the European Union means to them.

EU Bah Gum! Yorkshire Voices on Brexit will be a short documentary created by a community team who will travel across the region to engage with members of the public to portray what ‘Leave’ means to individuals and communities living in the most socio-economically diverse part of the UK. Most importantly questioning how such disparate and dividing views can bring people together to form a new version of British community.

A series of Brexit Break-up Cafes will be held across the region between June 2018-January 2019. The sessions will be an opportunity for positive engagement between those who have different views on Brexit – broadly between those who support a Remain point of view and those who support the Leave argument, and see if there is any scope for reconciliation.

The aim is to bring people together in dialogue to explore different views on Brexit. These sessions will be filmed, groups and members of the public will be invited to drop-in and share their thoughts and opinions, this is to demonstrate how communities, at grassroots levels, are moving forward and for them to have their voices heard.

The final documentary will be screened at the Delius Arts & Community Centre in Bradford, the week before the official Brexit date, on Thursday 21st March 2019. We are looking for groups and partner organisations to be involved in this project, if you would like to get involved and/or you have a venue that could host one of the Brexit Break-up Cafes then we would love to hear from you by Friday, 25th May 2018.
