This training session will explore the different legal structures of groups and organisations, such as Community Interest Companies (CIC) and Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). The session will include discussions around the benefits and limitations to each structure.

We will discuss the latest information and guidance from the Charity Commission and explore good practice in governance. There will be opportunities during this session to assess your own organisation’s approach to governance to be able to support you in developing a plan for improvements.

What you will learn:

The differences between each legal structure of groups and organisations and an ability to recognise the benefits and limitations of each structure
Awareness of relevant governance information
How to review your approach to governance and make any necessary improvements

Who should apply?

New groups that may be deciding which structure to use to become established, or existing groups that are looking to change their structure.
